​IEEE-1394 and MIL-1394b OHCI Host Adapter Cards

As PCI based systems become harder and harder to find and support, the transition to PCI Express (PCIe) is inevitable. FlightWire is leading the way with both single and triple node (channel) implementations.


The FW-1x-PCIe-400 is a PCIe x1 lane 1394 (FireWire) implementation using the Texas Instruments XIO2213B OHCI Link Layer and TSB41BA3 PHY. This non-transformer isolated standard PCIe form factor board has three IEEE-1394 Beta ports. The port speed/mode configuration switches allow the maximum port speed to be set to S100β, S200β or S400β.


The FW-3x-PCIe-400T is a PCIe x4 lane triple 1394 (MIL-1394) node (channel) implementation using three each of the Texas Instruments XIO2213B OHCI Link Layer and TSB41BA3 PHY. This transformer isolated standard PCIe form factor board has nine IEEE-1394 Beta ports, three from each PHY. All nine ports are brought out through a 68-pin high density connector. The 68-pin to 9 by 2-meter long IEEE-1394 9-pin Beta cable harness, FW-68-3CH-9P-9B, is sold separately.

FW-3x-VNX-800 triple node (channel) VNX form factor using the Texas Instruments XIO2213B OHCI Link Layer with integrated S400β and S800β PHY.


The FW-PCIe104-400 is a PCIe x1 lane 1394 (FireWire) PC-104 form factor implementation using the Texas Instruments XIO2213B OHCI Link Layer and TSB41BA3 PHY. This non-transformer isolated PCI-104 form factor board has three IEEE-1394 Beta ports. The port speed/mode configuration switches allow the maximum port speed to be set to  S100β, S200β or S400β.

Many legacy systems still require PCI support and FlightWire provides both a single and triple node (channel) solutions. 


The FW-32-PCI-400 is half length 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI single 1394 ( FireWire ) node (channel) implementation using the Texas Instruments TSB12LV26 OHCI Link Layer and TSB41BA3 PHY. The non-transformer isolated standard PCI form factor board has three IEEE-1394 Beta ports. The port speed/mode configuration switches allow the maximum port speed to be set to S100β, S200β or S400β. 


The FW-3x-PMC-400T is PMC form factor 32/64 bit, 33/66 MHz triple 1394 ( MIL-1394 ) node (channel) implementation using three each of the Texas Instruments TSB82AA2 OHCI Link Layer and TSB41BA3 PHY. This transformer isolated standard PCIe form factor board has nine IEEE-1394 Beta ports, three form each PHY. All nine ports are brought out through a 68-pin high density connector. The optional 68-pin to 9 by 2-meter long IEEE-1394 9-pin Beta cable harness, FW-68-3CH-9P-9B, is sold separately.

FlightWire provides IEEE-1394 OHCI Host Adapter boards in various configurations. Single node (channel), Multi-node (channel), DC and AC coupled (transformer) with PCIe or PCI host bus support. Supported form factors include: Commercial PCIe/PCI, PMC, XMC and VNX. Most of our host adapters can be configured to operate at S100β, S200β and S400β. S800β support is offered on some platforms.
